Oh what a night (would be a great line for a song), but this wasn’t anything to sing about. There I was, sitting down below about midnight, still concerned about my anchor situation as I can’t anchor properly because both my gear shift and fuel levers don’t work. Must have drifted off in more ways than one. I became awake/aware that something was amiss and I looked up and I was quickly approaching a large white boat(not a cruise ship but was at least 150 feet long). Darryl that was the first time I wanted to be on a power boat not my sailboat. I was actually going backwards and was about to Tbone the Megayacht and thought I might as well start the engine and see what would happen, wrong idea as Footloose is stuck in reverse so I immediately killed the engine, crawled back to see if I could fend off. Piece of cake, never touched the big boy and was able to work around and away to his aft so I did not drag my anchor over his. My screaming did wake one crew member and as I was passing we discussed a few options. Once clear, I turned the engine on and let Footloose go where she wanted in reverse with minimum rpms. A few hours later I miraculously ended up back near where I started.
I had to share the experience and hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. My only regret is I didn’t get the name of the Megayacht and when the sun rose they were gone. I will ask around today and hopefully will get the name.
FOD:Like George Buchner said: we are only puppets, our strings are being pulled by unknown forces. Whoever is pulling my strings must be having a ball, when you consider the size of the area Footloose had to cover to get in position to Tbone the Megayacht, we’re talking at least a mile and just a degree of difference would have me missing him by a bunch. Go figure.
